Akron participated in ARM’s Annual Dinner & Legislative Fly-In, May 7-8 in Washington DC. This year was the organization’s most successful Fly-In to date, greatly illustrating that support for regenerative medicine in Washington is growing. ARM’s members engaged in more than 100 congressional meetings covering 19 states, and received numerous commitments of sponsorship for our regenerative medicine legislation. Highlights from our Annual Dinner include Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who accepted his award as one of ARM’s 2013 Legislators of the Year. The evening’s featured speakers also included Sue Dubman, an inspiring Parkinson’s patient, who spoke eloquently about the need for RM research and treatments. Jay Siegel of J&J spoke to the company’s firm commitment in the space, and world-renowned cardiologist Doris Taylor, delivered a scientific presentation about the power of tissue engineering to treat several major unmet medical needs
